Ex-EastEnders star and former Queen’s actress Lucy Benjamin added plenty of sparkle to Thursday’s performance of Aladdin when she brought her family to watch the show.

Lucy starred in the Queen’s critically acclaimed production Deadly Murder last spring and she is also of course renowned for her long-standing role as Lisa Fowler on the hugely popular soap.

She was happy to chat to fans and was full of praise for the pantomime: “It is a fantastic show. It is wonderful to have a local theatre with such high production values. My children absolutely loved it.”

Her young daughters Bessie and Rosie, who were awestruck to meet the panto cast backstage afterwards and received free signed posters, especially enjoyed the magical flying carpet scene. Lucy also congratulated the cast and staff for creating such a welcoming atmosphere.

She tweeted: “It’s lovely to be back. Fond memories.”

Aladdin has received wonderful notices from the media throughout its run so far, which started on 28 November and finishes on 9 January.

Tickets are £12.50 – £27. To book, call the Box Office on 01708 443333 or book online atqueens-theatre.co.uk.
