Proposal for new Thames Crossing connecting Essex and Kent

Category: Travel 9

As you’ll probably already be aware, Highways England have started a consultation on a new river crossing connecting Kent and Essex. The consultation is based on a River Crossing (Tunnel) from Rochester in Kent into Essex and then into one of three routes.

There has been a lot of feedback about this proposal since we heard about it and Thames Crossing Proposal’s Group has been started to discuss the proposals on Facebook, with lots of objections but some people calling it’s a necessary evil

The consultation runs until 24th March with multiple information events, including one in Upminster Junior School on the 15th February (11am – 7pm). Plus a copy of all consultation material (maps, etc) is already available to view in Upminster Library and can also be accessed on the website HERE

Information events have already been popular with people being turned away from Orsett Hall on the 3rd February due to it getting too busy.

If you wish to discuss this with anyone I suggest you attend one of the information events and contact our local MP Angela Watkinson who has been attending various meetings regarding this crossing:
