Of the 1.3 million Freedom Pass users across London, around 860,000 older person’s pass holders will renew their passes between November and December.

Older people across Havering whose Freedom Passes will expire on March 31 next year will receive a letter in the coming weeks explaining how to renew their pass.

The Freedom Pass allows older adults to travel on public transport for free across the capital – as well as on local bus services throughout England at certain times – and is Europe’s most comprehensive free travel scheme.

Pass holders are being encouraged to renew online, which is a straightforward process and only takes a few minutes. While online renewal is the preferred method, anyone who is unable to renew online can return the form enclosed with their letter by post. Freedom Passes cannot be renewed at the Post Office.
