From Tuesday 3 May the exit from Bryant Avenue to the A127 will be closed for eight weeks while they carry out essential utility works.
Vehicle access to Bryant Avenue will still be possible from both the A127 and the A12. All traffic leaving Bryant Avenue will have to go via the junction with the A12. Pedestrian access via the A127 will be maintained at all times.
The new bridge will have wider carriageways, footways and verges, be higher to allow allow for Crossrail trains in the future and have taller parapets to protect cyclists and pedestrians
TfL’s contractor Skanska has completed the first phase of works to divert the water and gas services from the carriageway of the existing bridge to the new services bridge.
In the coming months Skanska will also divert communication and power cables. The utility diversion works will be completed by end of summer 2016. Within the site compound near Bryant Avenue, TfL’s contractor Hochtief has now built a retaining wall to support the new bridge construction.
