Join in with yoga on a paddleboard

Local yoga teacher Vikki Kavanagh has teamed up with Stubbers Adventure Centre to bring a new sport to it’s lake this summer with SUP yoga, also known as yoga on a paddleboard.

This relatively new sport combines yoga with stand-up paddle boarding, where you practice the yoga on the water, with the stand-up paddle board as your mat. Although you do not need to have experience of yoga or paddle-boarding to give it a go, being confident in the water is a good idea as you may get wet!

Vikki Kavanagh, SUP Yoga instructor said of SUP yoga, “It is a really fun way to exercise and being on the water makes the yoga poses very challenging. It is a fantastic way to improve core strength and stamina as you engage every muscle keeping your body steady and balanced on the board. The concentration required is greater so helping you focus and calm the mind. Everyone usually laughs a great deal so it is a real mood enhancer too.”

Each class includes board hire, wetsuit and buoyancy aid (although you can wear normal yoga clothes) and is led by experienced yoga teacher and SUP instructor Vikki.

Normally the class costs £25 per person but a special introductory offer of £30 for two classes is available at the moment.
