A special bin has been placed at the front office of the station, in Main Road, Romford, where knives can be surrendered & binned anonymously by the public.
Cllr Viddy Persaud, Cabinet Member for Public Protection and Safety, said: “The consequences of carrying a knife are devastating – lives are lost and the effects on everybody will last forever.
“That is why Havering Council is supporting the Metropolitan Police’s Save a Life, Surrender your Knife campaign. We want Havering to be a safe borough and we can all play our part in making that happen.
“Every time a knife is brought to Romford Police Station, it can be binned quickly and anonymously and the reality is, for each knife brought in, more lives are saved.”
