Death Cafe
The Fatling, 109 High St, Hornchurch
Weds 16th May 7pm – 9pm

Death is something that connects us all. No matter who we are, whatever our background, we all will eventually die. But yet we avoid the subjects of dying, death and bereavement and this lack of openness has an impact on the quality and range of support and care services available to patients and families. It has also affected our ability to die where or how we would wish.

A Death Cafe is an organisation who advocate and promote the discussions of death in a positive way and a Death Cafe event itself is a place to go and talk to other people about death.

It is very much in the vein of the Death Positive movement that I am a full supporter of. I honestly think that the world would be a better place and we would all be a bit happier about it if we just spoke about death a bit more!

The Public Interest – World Premiere
Brookside Theatre, Romford
Friday 25th May

An exciting world premiere of a dramatic new play by Kenton Hall.

It is 1965 and Winston Churchill is dead. Not that something as minor as the grave is going to stop the former Prime Minister from asking a few pointed questions of his friend and long-time physician, Lord Moran, who is preparing to publish a potentially damaging memoir of their time together. A battle of wit and wills is about to take place between two old friends, both with an eye on posterity. History as, they say, is written by the victor… and they just rang the bell for round one.

As the two men explore their friendship, their roles in world-shaping events and the chasm that often separates the remembered man from the real, life-changing questions hang in the balance. Is it really publish or be damned? And what is really in the public interest?

We are FSTVL
Damyns Hall Aerodrome, Upminster, RM14 2
Saturday 26th – 28th May

The 5 time award winning dance music show, We Are FSTVL has grown year upon year, proving itself as one of the biggest players on the dance festival circuit since its inception in 2013. With the dawn of 2018 heralding We Are FSTVL’s sixth edition, the UK’s most celebrated dance festival (Best Dance Event at 2016’s UK Festival Awards) continues to grow, combining innovative stage designs and mind-blowing production with a varied mix of genres from across the dance music spectrum.

Bringing together the world’s biggest names in dance music, underground and grime, alongside some of the world’s leading dance music brands and labels, We are FSTVL 2018 will play host to over 300 acts across 30 arenas between 26th-28th May, with an all-star billing announced as part of the phase one line-up announcement.

With the iconic Terminal 1 stage witnessing heavyweight trio Carl Cox, Eric Prydz, and Marco Carola playing together on the same stage in the UK for the first time ever, preparations are already underway to extend the capacity of the stage in preparation for what will be We Are FSTVL’s biggest main stage of all time.

Representing a strong techno contingent in Phase One, Jamie Jones, Joseph Capriati, Loco Dice, and Seth Troxler also join the star-studded bill, with drum & bass legend Andy C, Jump Up Superstars SASASAS and DJ EZ representing the bass heads. A strong Grime element will be provided with Mostack, Kojo Funds, Yungen, Yxng Bane and Lethal Bizzle as well as underground talent in the form of Mall Grab and TQD.

We Are FSTVL have flown in directly from the White Isle, Ibiza’s biggest & best arena stage hosts including Circoloco, Defected, Paradise, Glitterbox, Abode, Disturbing, Hyte, joining Bassjam and Lovejuice.

Not content with hosting an expansive world class line-up, We Are FSTVL places a huge emphasis on production to create an unrivaled festival experience. Taking place over a sprawling 142 acre former WW1 airfield in Upminster, Greater London, custom built structures give each arena its own distinctive identity to create a series of parallel worlds. From the ground breaking 450ft long Terminal 1 arena through to the mighty LED walls of The Aerodome, We Are FSTVL 2018 will be expanding on its airport heritage with its brand new “Neon Jetset Overload” theme.

We Are Camping returns to the weekender once more with several of the world’s biggest music brands, including 2 x exclusive full audio ANTS & We Are Bass outdoor arena shows for campsite guests only + an extended, upgraded, remixed for 2018 campsite village, full details coming soon!

Agatha Christie’s MURDER ON THE NILE
Brookside theatre, Romford
Wednesday 6th – Saturday 9th June

Following last years hugely successful production of ‘The Ghost Train’, the Brookside Theatre are proud to present a stylish and exciting new production of the Queen of Crime’s classic thriller, MURDER ON THE NILE.

On board a steamer, cruising under the scorching Egyptian sun, honeymooners Simon Mostyn and his wealthy socialite wife Kay find themselves being pursued by an old flame of the newly wedded groom. Tragedy strikes… a body is discovered and all fingers point to Simon’s ex fiancée but everything is not what it seems and holidaying cleric, Canon Pennefather is drawn into a web of intrigue and deceit as he finds himself on the trail of a ruthless murderer.

MURDER ON THE NILE is unarguably one of Agatha Christie’s most iconic thrillers, packed full of autocratic dowagers, bright young things, suspicious foreigners, exotic locations and a plot which twists and turns like the Nile itself.
