Gordon Giltrap Plus Support Carrie Martin
Fairkytes Arts Centre, Hornchurch
Fri 27/10/2017 19:00

Over the past forty years, Gordon Giltrap has graced the music business with his dedication to his craft and his affection for his audience. As one of the UK’s most respected guitarists, he has consistently proved the adage that respect cannot be bought – it must be earned.Over the years, Gordon has worked with an amazingly broad range of artists, from rock musicians such as Brian May, Rick Wakeman and Midge Ure to the jazz virtuoso Martin Taylor, the classical guitarist Raymond Burley and the London Symphony Orchestra.Gordon’s music continues to evade categorisation and is nigh on impossible to put into any kind of a niche, influenced as it is by the rock guitar of Hank Marvin and Pete Townshend, the folk guitar of Bert Jansch and John Renbourn, and the classical guitar of Julian Bream and John Williams. He has released 25 original studio albums, plus numerous live albums and compilations. The past few years have seen Mr Giltrap embracing technology in the form of a Boss Loop station, enabling him to record whole sections of music, playing it back and then adding layer upon layer to create a huge sound canvas climaxing in soaring electric guitar! This part of his show has become somewhat of a show stopper and has to be seen to be believed!Gordon will be supported this evening by Hull-based singer songwriter Carrie Martin.Tickets available – https://www.seetickets.com/event/gordon-giltrap-plus-support-carrie-martin/fairkytes-arts-centre/1127626

The Ghost Train
21A Eastern Rd, Romford, Essex, RM1 3NH, United Kingdom
Tue 31/10/2017

This Halloween, the award-winning team that brought you ‘Allo ‘Allo, The Ladykillers and The Woman In Black present THE GHOST TRAIN, a thrilling and chilling suspense drama with a cavalcade of twists and turns that will keep the audience guessing until the very end.
Arnold Ridley’s classic comedy thriller tells of a desperate group of travellers stranded in the waiting room of an isolated Cornish railway station one dark and stormy night. They react with various degrees of credulity to the Station Master’s warning of death to anyone who sets eyes on a ghostly train that haunts the line. They dismiss the story and his warnings and prepare to spend the night but soon find themselves caught up in the eerie tale of a spectral train and the series of startling events that its imminent appearance sets in motion.
This timeless mystery was first produced for the stage in 1925 and has since been made in a film no less than four times. It remains as popular today, capturing audience’s imaginations with its mysterious and chilling tale of ghostly-goings-on! Over 90 years on and the play is ever popular as it recalls the bygone age of steam and combines humour with suspense to evoke giggles and gasps in equal measure.
After the huge success of THE GHOST TRAIN, author Arnold Ridley found fame all over again playing Private Godfrey in ‘Dad’s Army’.
With special effects and scares galore, this classic tale is a sure-fire hit and spectacular piece of theatre not to be missed. A spooky evening, guaranteed to have audiences on the edge of their seats
“Such frightful fun means that this is one train definitely worth catching”
