Wellgate Community Farm exists as a focus for community, creating an opportunity for people to grow, make a positive contribution and promote social cohesion.
Unlike Old McDonalds Farm it’s a working farm and they sell their own vegetables, eggs, honey and meat. As a community farm the whole experience is completely free, including interacting with the animals.
They promote compassionate farming and have embraced the RSPCA’s five freedoms within our own animal welfare policy.
“The importance of this work cannot be over-estimated. How, for instance, can we expect people to make healthy choices about the food they eat when so many have little or no knowledge of how it is produced?”
Between spring and autumn the farm holds community events about once a month, and the latest is their Summer open day on Saturday 3rd June 2017 between the hours of 10am and 4pm.
The event will have the folllowing…
