Labour have selected Rocky Gill has their candidate for Hornchurch and Upminster

Rocky Gill, a Councillor at the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham Council and the former Deputy Leader, has been selected as the Labour Party’s candidate in Hornchurch and Upminster for the General Election on June 8th.

Rocky has been a Labour Councillor for Longbridge ward in Barking & Dagenham for over 10 years and held numerous positions including Chief Whip/Junior Whip for 8 years, Deputy Leader of the Council between 2010-2014 and Cabinet member for Finance/Children’s Services from 2009-2014.

Born in Barking NHS Hospital, Rocky was educated at local comprehensive schools and has lived in East London all his life. He has led many national campaigns to secure resources and investments into Barking & Dagenham, including high-profile school places campaign that secured £200m of funding.

He was the former Non-Executive Director of Barking & Dagenham NHS Primary Care Trust and has been a school governor for over 20 years.

Rock has campaigned for the Labour Party for over 30 years and has been a member for 20 years. He is also a member of Unite the Union and Co-operative Party
