Everyone was out for the opening of the new Sapphire Centre in Romford.
The Sapphire is Romford’s premier ice skating and leisure facility offering a fantastic range of activities. This includes their full-sized ice rink.
The centre also has a state-of-the-art gym, two swimming pools and dance studios, as two fully-licensed cafés.
In partnership with Everyone Active, the Sapphire Ice and Leisure forms a major part of Havering Council’s multi-million-pound investment to improve sports and fitness facilities in the borough.
The opening day included dancing on ice star Ray Quinn:
There were lots of seating at the side of the rink, which I’m sure will be taken advantage of by spectators of the Raiders Ice Hockey team at the team’s new home.
The Sapphire Centre is certainly a jem in Romford’s Crown, the swimming pool and other facilities are fantastic. It’s also great to see the Raiders Ice Hockey team back in Romford.
There were a couple of problems on me and my family’s visit, the call booking service wasn’t working correctly, the sound system was intermittent and the kid’s pool felt a bit cold but all of these were probably just snags on a very busy day
I certainly enjoyed the day and look forward to visiting the Centre again soon
