Peter Andre super-fan Jackie Ahern finally realised her dream of speaking to her idol at The Liberty despite recent events making her believe it was never destined to happen.
Jackie, from Hornchurch, was surprised with a phone call from the Mysterious Girl singer from his book signing at the Romford shopping centre after failing to make any of his recent signings due to health problems.
The 46-year-old had planned to meet Peter at Dagenham as a wedding present from her husband, but was unable to get there after walking down the isle without her crutches just a few days before having injured her Achilles tendon.
The newlywed then planned to cut her honeymoon in Cornwall short to return to Essex when she heard the singer was visiting WH Smith in The Liberty on Friday 9th September, but a major family health issue with a close family member made it impossible for her to make the trip.
Hundreds of fans queued to meet the 43-year-old heartthrob as he signed copies of his latest autobiography Between Us at the WH Smith store in The Liberty Square. Among them was Jackie’s daughter Letitcia who surprised her mum by getting the former I’m A Celebrity star to speak to her on the phone during her break.
“When my daughter put me on the phone to Peter I was just speechless,” said Jackie. “He said that he hoped my foot got better and even blew kisses down the phone! It was really special.”
In his autobiography, Peter discusses the highs and lows of his personal and professional life, including meeting his current wife Emily MacDonagh and losing his brother, Andrew, to cancer.
Andy Sweatman, WH Smith Store Manager, commented: “Peter’s book launch was a huge success; fans queued for hours to get their hands on a signed copy and meet the man himself.
“The new book is a really open, honest and emotional read, we’re sure that fans won’t be disappointed. Copies are already flying off the shelves.”
Jonathan Poole, Centre Manager of The Liberty Shopping Centre added: “We are really pleased that Jackie was able to speak to her idol after many set backs.
“Our customers were thrilled to have the chance to meet Peter Andre. As well as being exceptionally talented, he is a genuine, friendly guy who really appreciates his fans – which was evident today.”
