Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following a serious assault in Havering.

The assault occurred between 21:30 and 23:00hrs on Sunday, 28 June at an address in Cumberland Avenue, Hornchurch.

The 33-year-old victim was at home when an unknown number of people entered his property. The intruders attacked him with a meat cleaver and an axe.

The victim was taken to an east London hospital with a slash wound to his leg and a stab wound to his chest. He remains in a stable condition.

A description of the suspects is unknown at this stage.

Detectives from Havering are keeping an open mind in respect of the motive and believe this is an isolated incident.

No arrests made and enquires continue.
