Hundreds of crime fiction fans flocked to The Liberty Shopping Centre in Romford on Saturday 22nd October to meet Martina Cole, one of the UK’s top thriller writers, at her latest book signing.
Eager fans queued outside the WHSmith store at Liberty Square from TIME to meet the prolific novelist, who has just released her twenty-third book, Betrayal, which follows the lives of Aiden O’Hara and Jade Dixon, and their realisation that it is often the closest to you that you have to watch.

First in the queue was Tina McGuire, from Upminster, who commented: “I arrived at 7.55am. I’ve already started reading the book and am up to chapter 13 already. I’m sure I’ll be finished by the end of the week! So far the book has been brilliant, but all her books are.”

Speaking after the signing, Martina Cole said: “‘It’s great being back at The Liberty, it’s one of my favorite places to come to do signings, the fans here are great.”

Jonathan Poole, Centre Manager at The Liberty, commented: “We were really excited to welcome Martina back to the centre and it seems that her local fans felt the same. It was a great turnout and the atmosphere in the centre was fantastic.”

Andy Sweatman, WHSmith Store Manager, commented: “The book signing was a huge success, with plenty of fans queuing to get their hands on a signed copy of Betrayal and meet Martina.

“Her latest book is yet another captivating read, full of mystery and intrigue, and we’re sure that fans won’t be disappointed. Copies are already flying off the shelves.”
