What happens to food in supermarkets when it’s damaged? Sometimes it’s reduced and the supermarkets continue to sell it but quite often it’s simply discarded.

The ROMFORD Best Before Stall has been set up to distribute and save perfectly edible food from our local supermarkets that can no longer be sold in the shops and would ultimately end up in landfill.

The group collect food donations from local supermarkets each week. The food will then be available at the stall for you to use!

Take what you need and if you can, donate what you feel. Donations will help towards the running costs of the stall and any excess funds will be donated to local charities.

After only 9 weeks of running the stall and covering set up costs, they have declared they are able to donate £208.98 to the first charity!! The first charity donation will be made to Collier Row and Romford foodbank and they hope to carry on raising money to donate to other charities in the future.

Information about their weekly stall can be found on their facebook page, including a confirmation of stall opening times

Please note that only food for your own personal use should be taken from the stall and supplies will vary depending on the food donations we receive.

Based at St John’s Hall, Pretoria Road, Romford RM7 7BB

The stall runs Wednesday evenings 7:30pm – 8:15pm, depending on donations received. Please note that until recently this was 6.30 pm but this has now changed
