Havering Association for People with Disabilities (H.A.D.) is a local charity providing a wide range of services for people with physical & sensory disabilities and their carers living in Havering.
We are currently seeking volunteers for our Befriending Service. If you can spare a few hours a week or fortnightly to have a chat or share a pastime with a disabled person living in Havering so that they can spend quality time independently from their carer.
Some of the activities our current befrienders enjoy range from bowling, going to the cinema & museums. Or if you and your matched befriendee fancy something a bit more relaxing you could go for walks in the park, play board games or simply sit and share stories over a cuppa.
In return H.A.D will organise a DBS check, provide training and ongoing support. We also pay travelling expenses and all reasonable out of pocket expenses. We are preparing a program of additional training from Mental Health Awareness to First Aid.
