Since 2011, a number of local volunteers have given their time and effort to restore the long-neglected Romford War Memorial. Built in 1953, the Romford War Memorial was built to commemorate the service personnel and civilians from the borough who lost their lives during WW2. Tragically, the memorial buildings had almost fallen into disrepair, having been closed to the public and boarded up for almost 30 years. With a great deal of hard work and the love and support of the local community, we were eventually able to re-open these historic buildings as the Brookside Theatre; Romford’s first and only live performing arts venue with all events being staged to raise money for the continued restoration and upkeep of the War Memorial buildings

Well the time has come to try and raise the money for the raked seating that the Brookside Theatre so desperately needs. If we could get just 1750 people to donate just £20 we can finally install proper, raked theatre-style seating. With no grants of funding of any kind, the theatre has still managed to become an important part of the local community and actively encourage culture in Havering.

We have come a long, long way but without your help we simply cannot afford the proper theatre seating that our patrons deserve. Please help and donate and please, please, please share this and help us spread the word!!!
