Mushroom Clown flying the flag for live music in Havering

Local band Mushroom Clown are playing at the Fatling & Firkin on Saturday January 27th, in what will be a lively, party atmosphere. No strangers to the pubs and clubs of Essex, Mushroom Clown have been the popular Hornchurch pub’s New Year’s Eve band for the last 6 years.

Mushroom Clown’s setlist is described as “ridiculous” by frontman Matt Broughton. He told us,”We’re always keen to make sure we’ve got a few dozen songs for any occasion, so we’ve built a list of a few hundred crowd-pleasers”. Fans have been able to enjoy this range up close at their locally famous Bandeoke nights in aid of the charity First Step. Dozens of would-be singers have taken the stage with Matt (vocals and bass), Dave (guitar) and Paul (drums) to belt out their favourite songs while raising money for an amazing good cause.

While every Mushroom Clown show is enormous fun, Matt clearly loves playing the Fatling & Firkin in Hornchurch – “The crowd in the Fatling is always big, fun and ready to sing along!”.

Matt’s experience can be traced back to playing bass with punk favourites “Spizzenergi” (who were the first number 1 in the Indie Charts!) as well as forming his previous originals band “Waster”. He’s also a successful solo act, playing pubs and bars around Essex under the stage name “Matt Bee” ( www.themattbee.co.uk )

Everyone is welcome on Saturday 27th – the band will be on around 9pm until late. See you there!
